About the Foundation
Our Commitment to the Community
The NPHC MCMD Foundation is the official philanthropic and educational arm of the National Pan‑Hellenic Council of Montgomery County, Maryland. Established to advance the mission, values, and community‑centered work of the Divine Nine fraternities and sororities within Montgomery County, the Foundation serves as a dedicated vehicle for scholarship support, charitable giving, and strategic community investment.
Grounded in the historic legacy of the National Pan‑Hellenic Council — founded in 1930 at Howard University as a collaborative body for historically African American fraternities and sororities — the NPHC MCMD Foundation upholds the long‑standing commitment of Black Greek Letter Organizations to academic excellence, leadership development, and service. While each member organization maintains its own programs and priorities, the Foundation unites these efforts locally by providing structured support for initiatives that benefit Montgomery County residents.
The Foundation’s primary purpose is to steward and distribute all scholarship funds awarded annually by the National Pan‑Hellenic Council of Montgomery County. Through responsible governance and community‑focused leadership, it ensures that financial contributions are transformed into meaningful educational opportunities for students across the county. In addition to scholarship administration, the Foundation supports cooperative programming, service activities, and cultural initiatives that reflect the shared values of the Divine Nine.
By strengthening partnerships, promoting educational advancement, and investing in the next generation of leaders, the NPHC MCMD Foundation plays a vital role in enriching Montgomery County. Its work reinforces the enduring mission of the Divine Nine: fostering scholarship, unity, and service for the betterment of the communities they proudly serve.
